We support Scouts serving in a total of nearly 20 leadership roles.  Scouts can take on leadership roles as soon as they join and throughout their Scouting journey.  The core of BSA’s leadership development program is the Patrol unit, where Scouts hone skills as leaders of small groups at Troop meetings and outings.

Senior Scouts also facilitate leadership training programs for the Troop, and all Scouts are eligible to participate in advanced leadership development programs offered by BSA at the district, council, and national levels working with scouts in outdoor environments at a wide range of premier BSA Training Centers including beautiful Philmont Scout Ranch with 140,000 acres of wilderness on the east side of the Cimarron Range of the Rocky Mountains in New Mexico, and Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia, home of the National Scout Jamboree.
